Fajardo Method Holistic Biomechanics® Educational Program
What are Holistic Biomechanics®? Holistic Biomechanics® are the mechanics of all of the systems of the body working together as a whole. Prior to learning new motor patterns, it is necessary to first create an optimal brain environment that allows for learning. Because all actions of the body originate in the brain via the nervous system, the Holistic Biomechanics®training program addresses this issue first and foremost. Once the brain is capable of learning, efficient and reproducible new motor patterning can occur in both skeletal and valve biomechanics. This training program will teach how to identify sympathetic and parasympathetic skeletal and valve biomechanics. Individuals will learn both personal mapping skills and also how to assist others to transform unsupportive motor/ movement patterns into new patterns of ease. A variety ofequipment is used to provide sensory feedback to assist the mapping and teaching process, i.e. Pilates, stools, weight cables, balls, and foam rollers.
The training emphasizes addressing all four tube layers of the body: neurological/skin, muscle/bone, organ and hormone layers, This training will also include information on acknowledging the emotional/spiritual barriers and influences of movement.
Alicia Fajardo is the creator of the Fajardo Method of Holistic Biomechanics®. She combines her B.S. in Exercise Science and education in Dance with 24 years experience teaching movement through dance, aerobics, Pilates and Gyrotonic ®. Alicia’s professional approach uniquely views the body as an integrated unit incorporating mind, body and soul.
Who is this Program For? This program is for anyone interested in learning more about the role the nervous system plays in our movement, mood and overall health. Movement educators, body workers, parents and teachers, as well as individuals wanting to increase their personal body awareness are all welcome.
Program Content: The educational program includes 6 weekends of lectures and learning plus reading, observation and movement homework. Topics of study will include the following:

Fees include study materials, reduced rates on studio services and an Open Gym membership to Transformations Studio until January 1, 2014.
Holistic Biomechanics® Certification Option: Individuals who are interested in a deeper knowledge base of Holistic Biomechanics® and its application to teaching movement or bodywork can obtain a Holistic Biomechanics® Practitioner Certificate. In order to receive a certification in Holistic Biomechanics® it is necessary to complete the following 600 hours of study.
Lecture/Learning 120 hrs Reading and Study 80 hrs Personal Practice 150 hrs Observation 150 hrs StudentTeaching 100 hrs Total Hours 600 hrs
Upon completion of the above requirements, all participants are required to complete a written questionnaire and case study as well as demonstrate teaching ability and personal application of Holistic Biomechanics®
The questionnaire will focus on principles of Holistic Biomechanics® and the case study will stress Client Assessment and Program Design. Teaching ability will be demonstrated in a one on one client setting and personal application of Holistic Biomechanics® will be demonstrated in a class setting.
